Weekly Writing 9.29 – Action/Revision Plan & Reflection Mini-Essay

This week’s Writing Assignment will serve a dual purpose. While you will be asked to examine what your plans are for revising your rough draft of the Presenting Negative Info assignment, you will also give thought to the process you went through (and are currently as well) in completing this assignment. As you are writing your revision plan, take into consideration the critiques of your peers, myself (I will respond briefly to your rough drafts on the discussion board by Wednesday 10.1), as well as readings from your textbook (specifically those in Part 1 “Process as Well as Product” and a revision self-assessment handout I will attach to this assignment sheet.

For this mini essay—one part reflection, one part planning—please organize it in the following parts:

1. A reflection about the process you engaged in while writing the rough draft of this assignment, including any pre-writing “thinking” or planning you went through, as well as what you saw as the most important characteristics a successful “Negative Info” letter needs to have.
2. A plan for the revision of this assignment. Self-assessment being a key component of the revision process, give some thought to strongest and weakest aspects of your draft, where the holes are, how you might revise to better suit purpose and audience, and how both style and content will be effected by this process.

How you organize this essay, and what you emphasize, is up to you. Overall I would like you to muster somewhere in the range of 1000 words for the assignment; how you divvy those words up is up to you. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me through FerrisConnect or at thomaj21@ferris.edu.

Remember:
Action plan/reflection DUE: Sunday 10.5
